Attendance Line: 403-777-6360 ext. 1.

The safety of all of our students is our primary concern. If your child will be absent or late, be sure to call the number above by 8:45 AM to inform the school. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to success. We request parents' help and cooperation in verifying all absences and tardiness directly to the office.

Phone in for Safety

Our Absence Line is checked twice each day. We will alert you with an automated message if your child is late or absent and no previous notification was given. Please leave the following information:

  • name of student(s), spelling the last name
  • grade(s)
  • teacher(s)
  • reason for absence or lateness
  • length of absence

Students arriving late to school must report to the office where they will sign in and pick up a late slip prior to admittance to their class.

Picking up Students before Dismissal

When picking up children for appointments, please remember to:

  • inform the teacher beforehand so that the child is ready
  • leave a message on the attendance line so the office is aware
  • come to the office so that your child can be called
  • sign out your child in the register in the office

When picking up lunchroom children during the noon hour, please come into the school and inform the office staff and sign out your child in the register at the office.

Please do not use the office to change your end-of-day plans, except in an emergency.

If you decide to pick up your child/ren who normally takes the bus, please write a note for them and be waiting for them at their bus prior to dismissal time. If you are not there on time (buses leave at 3:27 PM sharp!) they will be sent home on their regular bus. The school is unable to orchestrate play dates, extra-curricular activities, or group work involving busing changes.

Holidays, Transfers & Moves

If families are planning to go on holiday or are moving, advance notice to the teacher and office staff is appreciated. For absences of 5 days or more, you are required to complete an Extended Absence Form. Parents are also reminded to keep the office informed of any address or telephone changes that may occur throughout the year.

Students are responsible for catching up on all work, assignments, and tests when they are absent. If a student is going to be absent, phone the school office at the number above, and leave a message on the attendance line.

Attendance Expectations at the CBE

Regular and punctual attendance is foundational to student learning, academic achievement and long-term success. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students applies to all students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff.
