Good afternoon Parents and Guardians,
This was a busy week in terms of emails sent to you from the school. I can’t promise that will slow down between now and the end of the school year as April, May and June are definitely busier months, and I do like to keep you informed. Please know I do consider how many emails we (I) send you, however, some emails I feel need to be sent as ‘one offs’ and other bits of information, and reminders can live in these weekly updates. From my experience, and based on responses received, or questions asked, it seems you are more apt to read the ‘one offs’ then these eloquently prepared and thoughtfully written weekly updates...yes, you may snicker here. All this to say, I’ll apologize in advance for the next few months of communication.
Enrollment survey – As shared earlier this week, if your child will NOT be returning to Hillhurst in the fall and/or you are currently unsure, please complete a very quick survey. If your child is in Gr 6, this survey does not apply to you.
Principal survey – In follow up to Garry Tink’s visit at the School Council meeting, please find the principal survey here. Your feedback is important as he generates the posting and hires a new principal. The survey is anonymous and will be open until April 19, 2024.
Updates/Upcoming
Fun Lunch – last chance to order for Wednesday’s fun lunch is Friday, April 12 at 11:59pm
Spring Dance – Friday, May 10
The Spring Fling dance is hosted by the Hillhurst School Parent Council and is for the Hillhurst School students and their families. We'll have activities, games, snacks, pizza and dancing! Please note, as this is a school community event, parents are expected to supervise their own children. See the attached poster for more details.
We are looking for parent volunteers to help us set up, take down and keep the fun going on dance night! If you or your friends and family are willing to help, please sign up. We can't wait to see you all on the dance floor!
Yearbook Cover Contest
One student winner will have their art featured on the cover of our 2023-24 yearbook. Information will be provided to students next week, and they will have until May 3 to submit their masterpiece.
SAVE THE DATE! Whole-school Celebration of Learning (Spring Concert) - Thursday, May 23 from 5 – 6:15pm
We are excited to bring the school community together to share in the amazing teaching and learning that goes on, day in and day out at Hillhurst. More details to follow.
Before/After School Care
Briar Hill Children's Programs is a before and after school program providing care inside the Hillhurst school gym for children grades 1-6! If you are interested in enrolling your child for September 2024 and would like to be added to the email list, please contact Savanna at Savanna.bhcp@gmail.com by May 1, 2024. Please see the BHCP Before and After School Flyer.pdf for more information.
Safety Reminders
Thank you to those drivers who respond positively to my hand signals to move ahead and/or pull towards the curb to park. This helps keep your child(ren) safe too!
