Hello Everyone 

Happy April! We were so thrilled to welcome everyone back yesterday morning and return to learning together. April is a busy month in public education, as it is the time when school districts receive their budgets from the province for the upcoming school year. In turn, school districts allocate school-based budgets so that individual schools can plan for staffing, based on student enrollment numbers. Schools use projected enrollment numbers based on census data, but also need to confirm that students who are currently enrolled will continue on at their schools, so that we have accurate numbers to plan with. We are asking all families to fill out the following (very brief!) survey to help us plan for the upcoming school year:

Thank you to everyone who attended the information session related to preliminary planning for the 2025-26 School Year, on March 20. You can find a copy of the slides on our school website under the 'About Us' tab, along with previously posted copies of our School Development Plan (24_25) and our annual report to parents on fees.

Schools should receive their budgets in the upcoming weeks. Your input is important to me as we make plans for next year, and I remain committed to providing information to the community in a timely and transparent manner. All school budgets and staffing processes in the CBE must be reconciled by the first week in May. There will be more opportunities to learn more, ask questions, and provide your perspective throughout the month of April. Please consider attending the following:

  • Mix and Mingle With Admin: Friday April 11 9:00-10:00am at the school
    • This is an opportunity for gathering with Admin, members of Hillhurst School Council, and other parents in our community. The purpose is to connect, have conversation, ask questions and see examples of the work going on in classrooms. Coffee and treats are provided!
  • School Council Meeting: Wednesday, April 16 6:30-7:30pm
    • Along with the regular meeting, some information related to budget and planning for the upcoming school year will be.
