Hello Hillhurst Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the fall weekend before the arrival of snow today!

Ongoing communication with families and students is a core value of our community. Over the past 2 months, I have enjoyed connecting in person with so many of you, either at conferences, the School Picnic, or at pick up and drop off. Please know that you are welcome to reach out to me, or Shafali, at any time.

In the name of providing timely and relevant information about your child’s learning, along with information about events happening in our community, our staff met last week to discuss how we could most effectively communicate with you. It was also a topic of conversation at the School Council meeting on October 16. Based on these conversations and feedback, we have decided that information will come to you in the following ways:

  • Weekly classroom updates (Fridays)
    • Learning – specific to the students in each homeroom
    • Key dates to remember
    • A look ahead to the upcoming week
  • Administration updates (Mondays)
    • Learning on a school-wide scale
    • Updates
  • School Council information (once a month, or when needed)
    • Messages written by School Council members and sent via SchoolMessenger
    • Key dates, activities, and initiatives
    • Fundraising information
    • Request for volunteers for larger events (Casino, Fun Lunch, etc.)

Our hope is to coordinate the information in such a way that limits overlap, and spreads messages out, rather than families receiving multiple emails on one day.

There are two steps that you can take to ensure that you receive important information:

We look forward to connecting with you more in the weeks to come! Have a great week everyone.

Sincerely,

Kristin and Shafali
