Happy Friday Hillhurst Families,
It was a wonderful full week of school! It feels a lot like a typical Calgary fall, with a mixture of high temperatures, lots of wind, and a side-order of rain. Thank you so much for sending your children to school with the clothing they need to spend time outdoors.
Outdoor learning and physical activity are important parts of our days at school. Please see the attached letter for details about CBE policies related to walking field trips. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher, or to us in the office.
Next week holds some important events at Hillhurst!
- We are thrilled to welcome all families to the fall Family Picnic on Thursday, September 19 from 5 – 7pm. Bring your picnic blanket and some family snacks. YYC Food Trucks will also be onsite if you would like to purchase anything.
- Hillhurst School Council invites everyone to the first Council meeting of the 24 - 25 school year. The Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 18, from 6:30 – 8:00pm. Feel free to join us in person at the school, or online via Microsoft Teams. An agenda, with the online meeting link will be emailed out on Monday.
Looking forward to the following week, the Hillhurst School Terry Fox run will be on Tuesday, September 24 from 9:30 – 10:15am , and Learning Conferences (meet the teacher) will be on Thursday, September 26 in the evening, and Friday, September 27 during the day. More information about both events will be sent out next week.
Please note there is no school for students on the following days:
Friday, September 27 (conferences)
Monday, September 30 (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation)
It has been so lovely to meet many of you in-person, and I look forward to connecting more with everyone in the coming weeks. Hillhurst School is a wonderful place to be, and we are honoured to serve this amazing community. Have a great weekend everyone!
