There are many ways you can contribute to our school’s success, and make a difference for our school and our students. In our school, this can include providing in-kind donations, contributing cash and lending expertise and technical knowledge. Connect with our principal on what may be appropriate. Contributing to the Annual Nest Egg Campaign
Hillhurst School’s Parent Society is unique among CBE schools in that it has charitable status and can issue tax receipts. Because of this status, we encourage parents and other community members to donate to the Hillhurst Elementary Community School Society for any charitable giving to the school. Since all administrative work for the charity is completed by parent volunteers, there is no administration fee, meaning more money goes directly to support school and school community initiatives.
Our main fundraising activity for 2024-2025 will once again be our Annual Nest Egg Fundraising Campaign. A Nest Egg Fundraising Campaign is a request to parents to make a single financial donation in lieu of multiple fundraising efforts. Last year Hillhurst parents and local businesses generously contributed over $18,000 to The Nest Egg.
Our Nest Egg goal this year is $20,000. That is the equivalent of about $60 per student. Hillhurst School is a wonderful and diverse community of students and families. Some families may not be able to give or only give a small amount. We encourage those families who can afford to give more to consider donating more to support all our students and the learning goals of the school.
Last year, we received 45 donations, with the most common donation amounts being between $50 and $400. We had a handful of incredible donations of $1000 or more from individuals, foundations and companies that were pivotal in reaching our goal last year. All amounts are welcome and appreciated!
This year funds raised from the Nest Egg Fundraising Campaign will again support a wide range of program enrichment initiatives supported by the Hillhurst School Society and directed by Hillhurst school administration. Please see the attached document for more information on the campaign, where funds are used and how to donate.

- EducationMatters is Calgary’s public education trust. Donors can choose to direct donations to Hillhurst School. There is a 3.5% administration fee for all donations.

- Write a cheque payable to EducationMatters (all one word) and include the name of our school and the specific program, activity or item you want your donation to support in the 'memo' section. Give the cheque to the school or mail it to: EducationMatters, 1221 8 Street SW Calgary, AB T2R 0L4
- I do not wish to receive a tax receipt for my donation
- Write a cheque made payable to Calgary Board of Education and include the name of our school and the specific program, activity or item you want your donation to support in the 'memo' section. Give the cheque to the school.
